Blooming in My Garden

Aconitum napellus

I don't know the variety of this monkshood. It was part of a collection of different varieties that I ordered and planted years ago. This is the only one that survived. And this is the first time that it has ever bloomed.

Laurel, I've made a conscious effort the past few years to plant things that bloom in the fall. My gardens are mainly spring gardens. I want flowers for as many months of the year as possible.

Do you have autumn crocus? I've really been enjoying mine.

Laurel, I'm an old fart and as far as I'm concerned, crocus' have no business blooming in the fall. They are a spring flower! Honestly. Crocus' that bloom in the fall just seem so wrong to me.
